Michigan golfer Matt Thompson enters the match-play portion of the Michigan Amateur today at Boyne Highlands Resort as the medalist.

Nine golfers had to complete their second round today after rain delays Wednesday slowed play on The Heather course. Thompson shot 71-69 for a two-day score of 140. Defending Michigan Amateur champion and fellow Michigan golfer Joey Garber was one stroke back.
