Darby Peters, who recently wrapped up her golf career at Eastern Michigan, shot a first-round 74 Monday and is five strokes off the lead of the Michigan PGA Women's Open.

Ashley Tait of Littleton, Colo., leads the three-round tournament with a 3-under-par 69 on the Mountain Ride Course at Crystal Mountain. The Open has a field of 63 players with 38 amateurs and 25 professionals. First prize is worth $5,500.

Former LPGA players Suzy Green-Roebuck of Ann Arbor and Elaine Crosby - a University of Michigan graduate - both shot 75 in the first round. Green-Roebuck finished second at last year's Open.
