Sarah Johnson, a junior on the Eastern Michigan golf team, shot a 4-under 68 Monday in the first round of the Michigan Women's Amateur.

Johnson, the defending Mid-American Conference champion, had five birdies in her round at Prestwick Village Golf Club. The top 32 players after today's second round of stroke play will advance to match play.

Sarah Hoffman of Saline shot an even par 72 and is tied for second.
