EMU's Tavelyn James named MAC West player of week award
Eastern Michigan senior guard Tavelyn James was named the Mid-American Conference women's basketball West Division Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
James scored a game-high 34 points in a 72-54 win at Buffalo on Wednesday and added 31 points in a 91-46 win against Akron on Saturday. In the two games, she averaged 32.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals in 33 minutes.
It's the sixth time in her career that she has won the award.
Saturday's total was the sixth time James passed the 30-point mark this season. She is 19 points shy of fourth place on the MAC all-time scoring list.
