The Indianapolis Colts start their rookie minicamp on Friday. Former Eastern Michigan safety Latarrius Thomas will be there.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound undrafted free agent agreed to terms with the Colts on Thursday, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Thomas started 12 games for the Eagles in 2011, which was his sixth year of college football. He was EMU's third-leading tackler with 79 stops and broke up four passes after missing most of the 2010 season with the second season-ending injury of his career.

The NCAA granted him a medical hardship season.

“I never thought I’d be here, but I’m here. So I’m going to make the best of it,” Thomas told AnnArbor.com during the Eagles’ 2011 media day. “It’s another chance. Another chance to play this game. I’m going to take it for what it’s worth and play until I can’t play anymore.”

A top 100 recruit in the state of Florida coming out of Smyrna Beach High School, Thomas started nine games as a true freshman at Louisville in 2006. A knee injury ended his sophomore season after two games and he’d make two more starts as a junior for defensive coordinator Ron English, before following English to Eastern Michigan when he was named the Eagles’ head coach.

After sitting out a season because of NCAA transfer rules, Thomas earned a starting spot for the Eagles in 2010.
