The Eastern Michigan men's swimming and diving team won its league-record 30th Mid-American Conference title Saturday in Oxford, Ohio.

The Eagles scored 693.5 points to beat second-place Buffalo (674.5) and win its 22nd title under coach Peter Linn and its 11th in the last 13 years.

EMU junior Jacob Hanson was named the league's Most Oustanding Swimmer for the second straight year after winning three individual titles. He won the 200 backstroke in a conference record time of 1:43.83 and also finished first in the 200 individual medley (1:45.38) and the 100 backstroke (:47.88).

Other EMU individual titles came from Troy Esentan (400 IM, 200 breaststroke), Franco Petrone (500 freestyle) and Jeffrey Craig (1 meter diving). (Complete results)

Big Ten Championships: Michigan senior Kellen Russell advanced to the 141-pound final, where he can become the first four-time conference champ in school history on Sunday. Michigan 17, Chicago State 8; Xavier 7, Michigan 4: Will Drake went 6-for-6 and Coley Crank hit two of Michigan's four home runs against Chicago State. Xavier used a four-run second inning to take early control of the nightcap in Port Charlotte, Fla. Huron High School graduate James Bourque started the first game for Michigan (6-5), but was not involved in the decision.
