The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team has lost its two leading scorers for the remainder of the season.

Senior guard Miranda Tate has been dismissed from the team due to a violation of team policy, the school announced Wednesday.

Tate led the Eagles with 12.9 points per game through 12 games. Eastern marked the 24-year-old’s third school, after she transferred from South Carolina and Providence. Tate sat out all of last season due to NCAA transfer rules, and missed the 2009-10 season at Providence after transferring from South Carolina.

The announcement came hours after EMU announce that junior forward Olivia Fouty would miss the rest of the 2012-13 season with a right knee injury. The injury was suffered in practice before the team’s Dec. 4 game against South Dakota State. She had missed the team's five games since then.

Fouty had knee surgery last month, the school said in a press release, and will seek a medical waiver.

Fouty led the team with 8.3 rebounds per game in seven games, and was second to Tate in scoring with 10.7 points per game. She led the team in rebounding last year as a sophomore with 8.1 boards per game.

The Eagles (2-10) face Loyola-Chicago Saturday before opening MAC play at Western Michigan Jan. 10.
