By Rich Rezler

Eastern Michigan has scheduled a press conference for 1 p.m. Thursday, where it is expected to announce Kansas assistant Tory Verdi as its new women's basketball coach.

He'll replace AnnMarie Gilbert, who resigned in early April after compiling a 94-64 record in five years in Ypsilanti.

Verdi also has experience as an assistant coach in the WNBA, spending two seasons (2003-04) on the Connecticut Sun staff, and was the head coach of the Springfield Spirit in the National Women's Professional Basketball League.

The press conference will be streamed live on Eagle All-Access at EMUEagles.com/showcase.
