Chelsea native Tony Scheffler spent the first four years of his NFL career playing with the Denver Broncos. In the future, he'll be playing a little closer to home.

The Broncos traded Scheffler to the Detroit Lions on Monday as part of a three-team trade in which the Lions sent linebacker Ernie Sims to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to multiple reports.

The Eagles sent a fifth-round draft choice to Denver, which also sent a seventh-round pick to Detroit along with Scheffler.

Scheffler is a 2001 graduate of Chelsea High School. As a wide receiver, he set school records for receiving yards (1,340) in the 2000 season and finished with 67 receptions and 16 touchdowns. He was a two-time first-team All-MAC selection at Western Michigan University

Love it! Lions get another weapon for Stafford and rid themselves of dead weight in Sims. When asked about the trade, Scheffler responded "Restore the Roar!". Good to know he's happy to come home.

Sims had one year left on his contract and would have cost too much to resign. They got just about the best they could from that trade. We need another big target out there.

Sims was a Millen pick. Are there any Millen-era players remaining?

I'm surprised the Lions are trading Sims.
