DREAM TEAM
Carter Beil (sr., GK), Saline: A four-year varsity player for the Hornets, Beil saved his best for last with 10 shutouts and an 0.75 goals-against average in his senior season. Beil was first team All-District, SEC, and Region and was an All-State honorable mention.

Rob Dolot (sr., M), Greenhills: Peter Jacobson needed someone to pass him the ball to score all those goals and Dolot did that, and more, with 32 assists. Dolot also scored 23 goals of his own and controlled the midfield for the Division 4 state runner-up Gryphons. He was a first team All-District, Region, and All-State selection.

Peter Jacobson (sr., F), Greenhills: Jacobson’s 58 goals were the eighth most in MHSAA history. He also had 19 assists and became just the second Division 4 player since 2003 to be selected to the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Dream Team. He was first team All-District and Region and was a first team All-State selection for the second consecutive year. He will continue his playing career at Yale in the fall.

Jonathan Jebson (sr. F), Dexter: Jebson had 22 goals and eight assists for the 17-5-4 Dreadnaughts, who fell short of the state finals for the first time in his high school career but still managed to win a district title and make it a regional final. Jebson was first team All-District, SEC, Region, and State, all for the second consecutive year.

Mike Kaminski (jr., D), Saline: Kaminski was the general of a Hornet defense that allowed less than a goal per game. He was often in charge of man-marking the opposition’s best finishers, Dearborn’s Soony Saad, the 2009 Mr. Soccer and the most prolific goal-scorer (single season and career) in MHSAA history, and Grand Haven’s two-time first team All-State forward Nick Heybour, neither of whom scored against Saline. Kaminski also scored 10 goals, was first team All-District, SEC, and Region, and was an All-State honorable mention.

Ben Patterson (sr., M), Huron: Patterson led Huron in goals with 26, and if teams tried to shut him down, he was happy to defer to his teammates as he also led the River Rats with 11 assists. Patterson’s came up biggest when his team needed him most with a goal and an assist in a 3-0 district final victory over cross-town rival Pioneer. He was first team All-District, SEC, and Region and was a second team All-State selection.

Justin Ritchey (jr., M), Lincoln: Ritchey scored 11 goals and had 10 assists for a Lincoln team that finished with 10 wins for the second consecutive year. He captained the Railsplitters from the central midfield position and also contributed defensively as well. He was a first team All-SEC selection.

Michael Tabers (sr., F), Gabriel Richard: Tabers had 29 goals and 13 assists for Gabriel Richard which, despite a disappointing loss in the district finals, finished the season ranked No. 9 in Division 3. Tabers was a first team All-District, Region, and State, and was an All-State honorable mention as a junior.

Mario Teixeira (sr., F), Huron: Teixeira had his sophomore and junior seasons halted prematurely due to injury, but he was a man possessed in his swan song for the 13-2-1 River Rats. He scored 20 goals and had seven assists, including one of each in a 3-0 district final victory over cross-town rival Pioneer. He was a first team All-District, SEC, and Region selection, and was an All-State honorable mention.

Ugo Uche (sr., F), Pioneer: Uche led the Pioneers in goals with 12 and assists with five despite being the focus of every opposition’s game plan. He scored both of his team’s goals in a 2-1 upset victory over Saline in the first round of districts, to oust the Hornets from district play for the first time in three years. He was first team All-District, SEC, and Region and an All-State honorable mention.

Zach Walega (sr., M/F), Saline: With 18 goals and 10 assists, Walega led his team in goals and points. He also had flare for the big stage, with two of his goals coming in game-winning fashion in one-goal contests against ranked opponents. He had another game winner in a 2-1 regular season win over rival Pioneer. Walega was first team All-District, SEC and Region, and a third team All-State selection.

CLASS A FIRST TEAM
Noah Fabes (sr. F), Pioneer: The diminutive forward made up for a lack of size with speed and immeasurable passion. Two of his five goals on the season came in a 2-0 win over Lincoln in the district semifinals. He was a first team All-District selection.

Adam Hansell (sr., D), Huron: A sweeper and captain for the district champion River Rats. The defense needed to be staunch for the 13-2-1 River Rats who, because of injury, were forced to start three different keepers this season, and Hansell led the way.

Clay Holman (sr., F), Lincoln: Holman led Lincoln in points with 11 goals and seven assists. The senior forward was a first team All-SEC selection.

Mohamed Kaba (jr., D), Lincoln: Led a Lincoln defense that had nine shutouts on the season. Kaba was also a threat when he pushed forward, finishing the season with 11 goals and 10 assists.

Kyle Karagitz (jr., GK), Dexter: Contributed to 11 team shutouts (two shared) and had a goals-against average of less than one per game. Karagitz was first team All-District, SEC, and Region, and was a second team All-State selection.

Kurt Miller (sr., D/M), Dexter: Was voted his team’s most valuable player and had five goals and 12 assists. Was first team All-District, SEC, and Region and an All-State honorable mention.

Brian Raeker (sr., D/M), Saline: Made the switch to defense for his senior season and performed well. Was strong on the ball and showed an excellent ability to distribute on the counterattack.

Ethan Rickelmann, (sr., M/F), Dexter: Scored 13 goals, had seven assists and was voted his team’s most passionate player. Was first team All-District, SEC, and Region, and was a second team All-State selection.

Robbie Vanderpluijm (sr., D), Pioneer: The big man in the back for the Pioneers, Vanderpluijm displayed an ability to mark the state’s best forwards. He also contributed two goals and an assist for the Pioneers.

Tyler Walls (sr., D), Saline: The senior defender took every restart for the Hornets. His pin-point flighted strikes on set pieces made every stoppage inside the opposition’s half a scoring opportunity for Saline.

Ryan Williams (sr., M), Saline: Did most of the dirty work in the middle of the field for the Hornets. Was a first team All-SEC and District selection and team captain.

CLASS B-C-D FIRST TEAM
Matt Barrera (sr., M/F), Gabriel Richard: Barrera was second only to Tabers in scoring for Gabriel Richard with 16 goals and 13 assists. He was first team All-District and Region, and an All-State honorable mention for the second consecutive year.

Alex Braun (sr., M), Greenhills: One of only four underclassmen on the 20-player Division 4 All-State first team. He had six goals and 12 assists on the season and was first team All-District and Region, as well.

Eric Brody-Moore (so., M), Skyline: With 13 goals and 10 assists, Brody-Moore led the all- underclassman Eagles in their first season against mostly varsity competition.

Matt Canter (sr., GK), Greenhills: Canter had eight saves in a 2-1 overtime win over Lansing Christian in the regional semifinal, and a six save shutout over Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett in the state semifinals. He was first team All-District and Region, and a second team All-State selection.

Patrick Duggan (sr., F), Greenhills: The third head in Greenhills’ scoring hydra, Duggan had 19 goals and 16 assists on the season. The big-bodied senior was excellent at using his strength to put himself in scoring position and winning flighted balls. He was first team All-District and Region, and was a second team All-State selection.

Mason Duling (sr., F), Washtenaw Christian: Duling had 33 goals and 15 assists to lead the rebuilding Wildcats. He was a first team All-District selection.

Curtis Heisel (jr., M), Greenhills: Heisel’s distribution on long balls and set pieces set up Greenhills for scoring opportunities all season. He scored two goals, had five assists, was first team All-District and Region, and was a third team All-State selection.

Jeffery Robbins (so., M), Skyline: Robbins was second in scoring with 12 goals and 10 assists. It’s scary to think how good Robbins and Brody-Moore will be when they and their teammates are upperclassmen.

Pat Roberts (jr., M), Chelsea: Roberts’s play was a highlight for the 8-15-1 Bulldogs. He had four goals and two assists and was first team All-SEC and All-District.

Christian Salata (sr., D), Gabriel Richard: Captained the defense for Gabriel Richard which gave up 1.15 goals per game. Salata was second team All-State as a junior, and this season was first team All-District and Region, and an All-State honorable mention.

Jack Schueller (sr., D), Greenhills: Schueller's senior leadership made Greenhills' staunch defense tick. He also contributed four goals and four assists on the offensive end. Schueller was first team All-District and Region, and a third team All-State selection.
