"Bud was 17 at the time and sadly passed away shortly after this photo was taken. For a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier, he was a couch potato. He loved to nap, especially in the sun." by Michelle Melis /calendar/photologue/photos/cache/BudJRT_fullsize.JPG

"Here's Enzo Ferrari. He's 1 1/2 yrs old and weighes 5 1/2 lbs. He loves going for walks on South U and across the law field to Urban Outfitters and Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream. When he isn't walking around, he's relaxing at home. This is a picture of him relaxing :)." by Allyson Fazica /calendar/photologue/photos/cache/EnzoPom_fullsize.JPG

"Bitsy, at top, and Boy, at bottom, live with their owners in Ypsilanti Township. Both were adopted as adult cats. We had Boy for a couple years and weren't sure how the two would get along when we adopted Bitsy, but they became kitty friends after only a few months and often nap in the same room. I highly recommend getting an adult or senior cat - they are the best. They've mellowed out a bit, have good bathroom manners and already have their own, unique little personalities." by Sarah Rigg /calendar/photologue/photos/cache/bitsyboyypsi_fullsize.JPG

"This is one of our cats, Cassiopeia, lounging on the deck. Both of our cats can't wait for us to let them out on the new deck, but Cassie prefers a soft cushion to sleep on, of course. She is 13 and lives in Northfield Township." by Dan Medrow /calendar/photologue/photos/cache/CassiopeiaA2_fullsize.JPG

"This is Max. She's 6 yrs. old and lives with me and her other kitty house and yard mates in our neighborhood in Ann Arbor. I woke her up from her cat nap to bother her with my new digital camera. Max loves to nestle and nap on cool garden rocks on these hot summer days." /calendar/photologue/photos/cache/MaxkittyA2_fullsize.JPG
We invite our readers to interact here on the pets section any chance we get, and one thing is evident: people are passionate about their companion animals, no matter what breed they are. And as we see at the end of each week, they like to show off their cute pet photos!
It's always fun to see what our readers lives are like with their own pets and other animals, and there are always interesting stories to tell.
But this week, we decided to do something especially fun: Since we're in the dog days of summer here in the Ann Arbor area, we thought that it would be fun to do a special feature to reflect that. With the heat and endless sun that we've had this season, it can make pets and their humans always feel under siege by the sandman.
This week, you'll see oodles of dogs and cats of all breeds catching a few winks.
It's all in good fun!
Because of the overwhelming response this week, we'll be featuring the same theme next week. We would love to see your photos of your pets snoozing with their favorite fellow animals — or their humans.
Participating in our weekly photo blog is easy — simply email a photo of your pet catching a few winks to ppsa2mi@gmail.com any time for our weekly Pet Photo Friday feature.
Be sure to include the name of the animal(s), as well as their age and city or township of residence in your email. Photos should be 1200 pixels wide and in .jpg format.
We put the week's photos into a slideshow, publish and promote each Friday here in the Pets section.
