Pets: Kasel Associated Industries recalls all products manufactured at Colorado facility
This measure comes after previous recalls of their bully sticks and chicken jerky treats last fall.
Salmonella contamination is cited as the problem behind the recall.
Salmonella, also referred to as salmonellosis, causes digestive problems, and dogs will typically present with fever, diarrhea, vomiting and weakness. Other symptoms can occur.
Salmonella can affect other animals — not just the dogs who consume the treats. There is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products. People handling dry pet food and/or treats can become infected with salmonella, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the treats or any surfaces exposed to any contaminated product.
The company is recalling Boots & Barkley, BIXBI, Nature’s Deli, Colorado Naturals, Petco, and Best Bully Stick items. Lot numbers with a 1 Year Best By Date and a 2 Year Best By Date are included.
The products, which include pig ears and salmon jerky, have been sold by Target, Sam's Club, among other retailers.
