Ken and Barbie - waiting to meet you at the Humane Society of Huron Valley

Meet Barbie and Ken, adorable and playful, 1-year-old Beagle mix dogs who are perfectly paired!

Barbie and Ken came to the Humane Society of Huron Valley with a large group of more than 45 small dogs in January of 2013 from a hoarding situation. Most of the dogs have found new homes, but it’s been a bit harder to find a family who can open their heart and home to a pair of pups that must stay together.

Barbie and Ken are wonderful dogs, but due to neglectful conditions in their past life, they did not get quite the right amount of socialization and training needed. Barbie and Ken, however, have grown a lot in our care and are already learning how to walk on a leash and how to enjoy being lap dogs!

Since this pair have relied so much on the comfort of each other so far in their life, they must stay together. If you have a big heart, patience, and can provide TLC to good-natured dogs that deserves a second chance, we hope you will come and meet Barbie and Ken today.

Ken and Barbie were also diagnosed as heartworm positive because they were never given preventative, but we have treated them, and both are well on their way to a full recovery.

HSHV is open daily at 11 a.m. for adoptions. All pets available for adoption are spayed/neutered, up to date on their vaccinations, medically and behaviorally evaluated, and they have a microchip ID all included in their low adoption fee. Please make adoption your first option.

The Humane Society of Huron Valley, located in Ann Arbor, was awarded the “Best Large Animal Shelter in Michigan” by the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance, for the second time in a row this year, for saving the most lives. HSHV is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies solely on donations from businesses and individuals to support our community programs.

HSHV is not affiliated with the Michigan Humane Society or any other humane organization. The mission of HSHV is to promote responsible and compassionate care of all animals in our community.

Deb Kern is the marketing director for The Humane Society of Huron Valley.

What adorable siblings. Wish I had room, but my 3 other rescues won't have it!
