Meet AnnArbor.com's Pet of the Week, Monk

By state law, a stray pet is held a minimum of four days, seven days if the pet has a collar or microchip/tag. We make every attempt to try and locate the stray pet’s owner. After the hold period the animal is evaluated for adoption. We attempt to place animals with adoption potential that are too young or need rehabilitation in our foster care program. There is no time limit or expiration date on adoptable animals.
Monk's hold date has long passed and he is now available to be adopted. You just have to look at Monk to see he was obviously someone's cat; he was well fed. In fact, Monk loves to eat and if you break open a wet food can, Monk is the first cat to come running. (See a small video of Monk taking his bath after some yummy wet food.)
Monk is considered an older gentleman, at about 10 years old, but he is energetic and affectionate. As you can see from this picture, he's still a playful guy and likes to climb around on the steps and shelves in Purrs Plaza, one of our community cat rooms.
Monk is as sweet as can be and loves to give away his affection to anyone he meets. He just needs a nice lap or a warm bed to lie on, and this will be one happy fellow. If you can lend your lap to this sweet boy, come meet him.
HSHV is open daily from noon to 6 p.m. for adoptions. The Humane Society of Huron Valley has a full service, low cost, veterinary clinic that is open to the public. To schedule an appointment for your pet, please call (734) 662-4365. For more information on all of the adoptable pets, including Monk, visit www.hshv.org or call (734) 662-5585.
