What does an old Circuit City dress up as for Halloween? Halloween USA, if it's lucky

Halloween USA opened a store Tuesday in Arborland at the site where Circuit City used to be. This makes it one of its biggest stores around. I popped in there this week to find that, yes, it is already open, and yes, there are already shoppers.

Upon entering the store, Halloween lovers will be put right into the spooky spirit of things. The first few aisles have plenty of items fit for the creepiest of haunted houses. As I made my way through the store I found plenty of costumes for any age. "Star Wars," "Transformers," and GI Joe are expected to be big sellers, as are princess and Disney characters like Hannah Montana. Anyone from the 80’s is sure to be a hit as well.

What about for the grown-ups? Well, I have heard that Michael Jackson, and any reality TV mom (Kate Gosselin, the Octomom, Michelle Duggar) may be popular this year. But an associate at Halloween USA said the store took down its Michael Jackson display. “This is a fun store, and we did not want to see fun at his expense.”

Store associates expect to stay very busy through the holiday, and even after. This site will likely be used as a clearance store after Oct. 31. Look for the store to stay open for a week or so into November with costumes at 30 to 50 percent off.

With Halloween still over 6 weeks away, I asked a few shoppers why they were here browsing already. One shopper was looking the perfect Minnie Mouse costume for her 13-month old daughter. Her toddler friend plans to be Abby Cadabby of Sesame Street fame. Another shopper found the perfect princess costume and hat for her three-year-old’s birthday which is today.
