In the early 1920's Fred R. Barnard helped to coin the phrase "A picture is worth ten thousand words" in an advertisement that appeared on the side of a streetcar.

Today this phrase lives on where strong and impactful images can be seen everywhere from television to billboards, and beyond.

Growing up in Ann Arbor, I always wondered what it would be like to capture images like those I saw in the newspapers, magazines, and portraits. What would it be like if I only could talk to those people and find out their story?

I grew up on the old west side of Ann Arbor where you could enjoy the peace and quiet of the country or you could drive 15 minutes into downtown and enjoy city and university life. Over the years I have had the opportunity to meet many people and hear their stories in and around Ann Arbor. I quickly followed Fred's words in capturing images when my Grandmother first showed me how to shoot a polaroid and followed that pursuit to study photography and start my own studio making millions of words out of images ever since in several genres.

I will be contributing images from in and around Ann Arbor, as well as from my journeys as a photographer. I look forward to my time here at AnnArbor.com to share my works with its readers as well as hearing from all of you.
