Tickets on sale for 16th annual Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti
Thousands of people fill Riverside Park July 28 during the 15th annual Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti.

Tickets are now available for the 16th annual Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti that will feature more than 600 beers from more than 65 Michigan craft breweries.
The festival is the oldest of the Michigan Brewers Guild's four annual festivals and takes place at Riverside Park, located in Depot Town.
The festival will take place on the following days:
- Friday, July 26- From 5 to 9 p.m. ($30 advance / $35 at gate if available)
- Saturday, July 27- From 1 to 6 p.m. ($35 advance / $40 at gate if available)
Tickets became available at 10 a.m. Wednesday and can only be purchased online.
Food will be available for purchase inside the festival and a variety of Michigan bands will be on hand to perform live music. The 2012, 15th annual festival sold out both days of its two-day run.

Ok, I love a party, like crowds....but....I don't like reading the aftermath of these events where people go to jail for drunk driving...or worse things that happen when behind the wheel, people are arrested for fighting, etc. Why promote this kind of event? Sorry. I'm sure I'll get all kinds of grief, but just not a fan, not anymore. Too risky. I'll stay at home and drink. But for those who do go? Don't drink and drive.

People that drink craft beer, generally speaking, are responsible drinkers. People that want to act a hot mess, like you've described, will sit on their porch and drink cheep toilet water beer. Beer Fest is not a 'partay', it's an event, with people who like to enjoy a quality beer, good weather, and like minded individuals.

You have obviously never been to a beer fest. They are generally very laid back and people carpool - designated driver tickets are available for a nominal fee.

History will only repeat itself. The next generations of 21-year olds-goin' to a partay...WHOHOO! ......people will drink, people will drive afterward (because they THINK they can), people will run their mouths, fights will ensue...then it will be shoulda...woulda...coulda...when someone has to pay a fine, go to jail, call mommy and daddy to explain... Not everyone will take a bus, you know that EK! Have you ever tried to take keys from a drunk? Not as easy as you think. I agree with TK, there should be more family events. You don't need to drink to have fun.

I'm still hungover from last year's Beerfest....but "boy oh boy, those beers sure was tasty!"
