Darius Tucker, 17, is facing a charge of first-degree home invasion after being arrested Monday. Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Geoffrey Fox said Tucker was arrested after a resident reported the break-in early Monday morning.

Deputies responded at 3 a.m. Monday to the 100 block of Ohio Street in Ypsilanti Township after a 33-year-old man found Tucker standing in his bedroom, Fox said. The man was watching television in the living room when he heard noises in the back of the house.

When the man went to investigate, he opened the bedroom door and saw Tucker standing in the room, Fox said. Tucker then fled through the window without taking any items, he said.

Deputies responded to the area and stopped Tucker as he walked down the street near the home, Fox said. Tucker’s clothes and appearance matched the description given by the resident.

Tucker was placed under arrest and was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail, where he was arraigned on a first-degree home invasion charge Tuesday, according to court records. Jail records indicate he was given a 10 percent of $5,000 bond.

Tucker was still lodged in the Washtenaw County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon. He returns to court for a preliminary exam at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 10 in the 14A-1 District Court in Pittsfield Township.

I'm happy with any and all photos of those who commit crimes that may harm people: rapists, armed robbers, home invaders, and the like. Often these folks are set free awaiting trial after minimal bail. It's good to have members of public able to ID someone who is potentially dangerous. It's a service to the community.

Maybe that's why he wasn't shot, if the homeowner in fact had a weapon available....maybe the guy didn't what something like that to happen in front of his kid.

He is truly lucky he's not dead. Pure luck. What are the chances he'll actually learn something from this experience and go out and make something of himself?

I am really saddened by this. I know this boy. He must have scared that man half to death. What a stupid choice he made that night. He is a kid. Actually he is a nice looking kid and the photo is not flattering of him. I am just really sorry he made this decision and thankful that no one got hurt. :(

Doesn't breaking into the home of a total stranger at 3am kind of rise above the level of "stupid choice"? I think it does. Waiting till the night before to study for a test is a stupid choice. Copying off your neighbor's math test is a stupid choice. Home invasion, especially in the middle of the night, is quite a bit more sinister.

The suspect is very luck that being arrested is all that happened to him. http://www.mcall.com/news/breaking/mc-schuylkill-county-homeowner-justified-shooting--20130829,0,5117152.story

The facts are this guy got caught. Maybe the owner didn't have a gun that's why this guy is still alive for breaking in his home? The race card is getting really old.

Thats not the point Mr. Nut...obviously he got caught and should be charged for the crime...we're talking about how these stories are reported...a point that is obviously over your head..."maybe the owner didnt have a gun"!!??!! Hah!!! Youve got to be kidding me?!?

@Burr Oak: Please calm down and sift though the facts available. Note 'Ypsi Twp Purse Snatcher' story with mug shot, posted on this site 10 hours ago. Suspect also pictured. What do these two have in common? Arresting agency. Perhaps release of mug shots are at the discretion of arresting agency, unless FOIAA comes into play, and - of course - that takes time. Just thinking out loud. Let's try to focus on what's important here. Crime is bad. Can we agree on this?

I notice that whenever a young man of color, even if only 17, is accused of a crime, his picture is posted. I also noticed that recently there was no biographical information or photos given of the UM students who broke into the Stadium, surely a serious offense. Could you please explain your policy of showing pictures and naming 17 year olds who are only accused, but not convicted, of crimes?

Are you kidding me? There's a picture of a white suspect 8 stories down from this one.

You decided not to even check for any other mugshots, even on the same day, of other races? Because you certainly missed something and made an ass of yourself.

Burr, For the record, A2.com has post pictures of Caucasian suspects accused of serious crimes also.

Kyle Feldscher

Basically, we post the photos (when provided - we request them from the WCSO and sometimes they're able to send them and sometimes not) when a person has been charged with a felony offense. For instance, the U-M students were cited for trespassing and MIP and possession of marijuana. Crimes, yes, but not exactly on the same level as being accused of home invasion, as in this case. Also, the claims that we only run the pictures of African-American men or other men of color are completely false. Here is the mugshot, from literally earlier today, of a white man accused of armed robbery. http://annarbor.com/news/ypsilanti/man-apprehended-by-witness-after-short-chase-charged-with-armed-robbery/ Usually, when a person's photo runs, it's because they've been charged with a serious crime. The color of a person's skin has nothing, and has never had anything, to do with our decision-making process when posting a person's mugshot.

Agreed Burr Oak...can you please answer this inquiry AnnArbor.com? What factors decide when a booking picture is displayed in a story or not? I assume the students who were arrested for breaking into Michigan Stadium were charged, booked, and were at least 17 or older??? Why weren't their booking pictures posted???

Kinda like TM and Zimmerman, they continued to show TM at age 12 young and innocent and hardly threatening, guess it's still the good Ole boy system here.
