Teenager arrested after hit-and-run involving pedestrian, Ypsilanti police say

By Lee Higgins

A 16-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday night after Ypsilanti police say he struck a pedestrian with a car in the 500 block of East Michigan Avenue and left the scene.

The 53-year-old victim suffered minor injuries, Sgt. Eddie Davis said.

Officers caught up with the teen's Cadillac on North Prospect Street after the 6:50 p.m. accident and detained him before releasing him to a parent, Davis said.

"He didn't think that he had struck the person," Davis said.

The boy had a passenger in his car at the time of the accident, Davis said.

Charges of hit and run are pending.
