Sheriff's department seeks two suspects in Ypsilanti Township home invasion

By Heather Lockwood

Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies are seeking two armed men suspected of forcing their way into a home in Ypsilanti Township today, hitting the resident with a gun that discharged during the assault, and stealing money.

Troy Anderson Lewis, 20, and a second man are suspected of knocking on the front door of a residence in the 100 block of Riley Court about 12:50 a.m. today, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. The victim told police the men asked for a person who does not live there. They then asked for another person the victim knew, and the victim opened the door slightly to see who was there, according to the release.

The men then kicked the door in and entered the residence, according to the release. The men both pointed silver handguns at the victim, according to the summary, and one of the them hit the victim on the head with the butt of his gun.

Some of the home invasions he was convicted of were in my neighborhood. He and his partners robbed about 4 houses on my block (Rue Deauville/Willette neighborhood) in 2 weeks back in April/May 2010. They were operating out of his mother's house, which is now condemned and sitting vacant. Some of his "boys" were even threatening witnesses (women at that) who were testifying against him. I cannot believe he didn't get any jail time for any of it. They just sent him to boot camp where he met more criminals, became phsically stronger, and apparently made his move from burglary to armed robbery. Great job Washtenaw County Judges! Encore!

I wouldn't put MR. in front of Lewis. He is a THUG! I'm sorry for the victim, glad he could give the police a name, and description of the 2nd. suspect. I would say Yes, they are armed and very dangerous. I have always felt bad for our Police Departments, having to investigate such CRAP! They do put their lives on the line every day, afternoon, and nights. The people that say CUT, lay off law enforcement, makes me crazy. They crab about paying taxs, won't vote, but expect service. (when they want it and now). Keep safe WCPD and continue the GREAT job that you do.

I thought the Riley Court appartments were comdemned last year. The only people who live there are squatters. Why doesn't the police just go on an outstanding warrant search there. I'm sure that between these apartments and the MacArthur Blvd projects, they could fill all the jails/prisons.
