ReSale Shop benefiting Ypsilanti schools foundation moves to new location
The Ypsilanti Public Schools Foundation’s ReSale Shop has moved to a more prominent location, according to a report in the Ypsilanti Courier.
The shop hosted a grand reopening Saturday in its new space at 1076 Ecorse Road in the former George Elementary School. The ReSale Shop previously occupied a corner of Ypsilanti’s transportation building on Railroad Street, the Courier article said.
The district is closing the transportation building and Ypsilanti’s buses and drivers are being moved to a shared facility with Willow Run Community Schools at 145 Spencer Lane. Renovations to the soon-to-be joint transportation office are expected to be complete by Tuesday.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) cited Ypsilanti’s previous transportation building as inoperable, spurring the move for both the ReSale Shop and the district's busing services.
YPS Foundation President Hank McQueen told the Courier the ReSale Shop experienced a 45 percent increase in sales for its first Saturday at George School. He said in the article the store is easier to find and is on a main roadway with better walk-by and drive-by traffic.
