Police: Woman stole battery charger from Ypsilanti store
Ypsilanti police have identified a woman who stole a battery charger from a Washtenaw Avenue store Sunday afternoon.
Police responded at 6 p.m. Sunday to a store in the 2100 block of Washtenaw Avenue for a report of a retail fraud. According to police, the woman walked into the store and stole a battery charger before fleeing the area on foot.
According to police, the woman hasn’t been arrested yet but investigators believe they have a positive identification. Officers are expected to request a warrant for the woman’s arrest in the coming days.
The report was not completed Monday morning and more information on the incident was not available.

Seems like it would be hard to do an article on every case of shoplifting. Especially the ones where the perpetrator hasn't been arrested yet. They happen every day.

I understand some people just get a charge out of petty theft. If she really needed it, her battery's had time for a full deep-cycle charge and she should be motoring at this point.

From where the theft took place, it IS reasonable to conclude that it was a car battery charger that was stolen. If Auto Zone itself isn't the store from which she stole the battery charger, it's awfully close to the store from which she did steal it. And Gene Butman Ford is right across the street from where she stole it. O'Reilly Auto Parts is closer to Hewitt than Gene Butman Ford is. A battery charger, NOT a plug-in device for diagnosing your car's electrical works? O'Reilly lends customers such plug-in devices, for use right there in the parking lot.
