Police: Man pulled gun on 7-11 clerk, demanded pack of cigarettes
A 23-year-old Superior Township man and an 18-year-old Ypsilanti Township man were arrested a short time after police were called to the 7-11, 2200 East Ellsworth Road, at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say the two men walked into the store, purchased something and then left.
“They were upset with the price of it,” said Sgt. Geoff Fox of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.
Police would only characterize what the men bought as "a small item."
The men then returned to the 7-11. Police said the 23-year-old went inside and brandished a handgun, demanding a pack of cigarettes. He took the pack and left.
Police responding to the robbery saw the two men walking on Ellsworth and arrested them without incident. Witnesses identified suspects, and the gun was recovered, police said.
The men are being held at the Washtenaw County Jail where they were expected to be arraigned on armed robbery charges Thursday, police said.

beardown, He won't get 6 or 7 years. It will be a 2 to 3 years sentence and he will be out in 14 months. That is how bad our judges are in Washtenaw county.

If my math is right that crime could cost the aledged perp about 1 year for each cigarette in the pack. If convicted could the perp get time off for those butts smoked? In prison cigarettes are a form of currency and one pack is worth quite a bit. Even a cigarette butt has tremendous value and they too are treasured. Anyway you look at it those butts are smoked. The warning on a pack could or should read, "Caution: Cigarette smoking may be hazardous to your criminal butt's career". You can tell many things about a person by the way they get their cigarettes. Most prisons are non-smoking by now right? Would love to see the video of the aledged robbery.

"Police would only characterize what the men bought as "a small item." " I can imagine what that "small item" was. Some seriously deep thought went into this episode, I can tell....

You don't have to be a genius to know that there are consequences to stupid actions. I mean, is it really worth going to jail for a pack of cigs?

There's a 90% chance this was an airsoft pistol. When are criminals gonna realize that although your using a fake gun, the penalties are the same as if you had fired off a few rounds from a real one? Or were these guys trying to go to jail because summer is here and they have A/C and free rent? Best answer: Pay the $5 for a pack of cigs.

it was probably a pack of newports, they are the most exspensive cigs out there, and if you are going to jail for pulling out a gun, why not take the money too double dumb,I am glad the clerk as not harmed, these kids want it RIGHT NOW, and now it is prision for he, perhaps it was a blessing, what if down the road he actually drew the gun and someone would be killed, than he would be looking at life behind bars. take the time in jail to rehabilitate yourself get an education, and grow up.

Amazing that the need for a 6 or 7 dollar pack of cigarettes will probably put this kid in prison for a decade or longer.
