Police confirm identity of 1-year-old boy who died Sunday; suspect to be arraigned Thursday
Police confirmed Wednesday that the 1-year-old boy who died Sunday morning in Ypsilanti Township under what police have called suspicious circumstances is Chase Miller of Ypsilanti.
A 34-year-old Ypsilanti Township man is expected to be arraigned at 1 p.m., Thursday at the Washtenaw County Jail in Pittsfield Township in connection with the death.

"We’ll get some of the details out tomorrow but right now, status quo, we’re not releasing any more details," Sgt. Geoffrey Fox of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said late Wednesday afternoon.
Chase, who was born Aug. 10, 2011, was the son of Benjamin Miller and Jill (Peters) Miller. Family members could not be reached for comment.
Deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Fall River Road in Ypsilanti Township at 12:30 a.m. Sunday upon receiving a 911 call reporting a young child was possibly choking. The 34-year-old man, who lived in the residence, made the 911 call, police said.
The man has no blood relation to Chase, police said.
When authorities arrived, the child was not breathing and CPR was administered by deputies until paramedics arrived and took Chase to St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after resuscitation attempts failed, Fox previously told AnnArbor.com.
Chase was preceded in death by his brother Benjamin James Miller Jr., who died March 28, 2006, as an infant.
Private services have taken place for Chase and were handled by Stark Funeral Service in Saline, according to an obituary. He was buried at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti.

AnnArbor.com's first article showed pictures of the baby and the guy who did it on Monday. It also state child abuse from the guy. It would be nice if AnnArbor.com kept that first article up.

Unfortunately, that report was from a similar occurrence that involved an event in Lenawee county. It seems that there is an open-season on our babies!

My sincere condolences to the family. I went to school and have mutual friends with the mother. I have a 1 year old and can't even imagine how Jill is feeling right now and hope I never have to. I don't know the details, but it sounds like the child was in the care of a family friend. Let this be a lesson: You can never be too careful who you entrust with the care of your children.

I hope you are not implying that these parents were not aware of their blessings. Or that they were somehow responsible for these tragedies. I agree that this event is disgusting and repulses me to the depths of my soul. I suppose we'll soon see if our laws are a joke. I suppose that they will not be, at least in this case.

Heartbroken, regardless, the family had to release it, the funeral home has a public website that it was used on. So the Family released it, when you release a picture to be used in any public forum, you never know where it will go, you don't have control over it.
