The third annual Pianos 'Round Town, which puts pianos in front of various businesses in Ypsilanti for public use, is kicking off Sept. 21, the Ypsilanti Courier reports.

The event is inspired by a public artwork project created by British artist Luke Jerram, who travels to cities around the world and places pianos in public areas for people to play. The project began in 2008 and has traveled from London to New York.

Korin Hancherlian-Amos coordinated the local event.

The Steinway Piano Gallery of Detroit is providing the pianos that will be placed in front of Sidetrack, Nelson Amos Studio, The Ypsilanti Co-op, Tower Inn, Red Rock Barbecue, Cafe Racer, the Depot Town Dispensary and Mix until Oct. 9, the Courier reports.
