Police: Man hit on head with champagne bottle during argument over orange juice
A 39-year-old Detroit man needed stitches after he was hit on the head with a champagne bottle during an argument with his sister's brother-in-law over the consumption of orange juice.
The man told Ypsilanti police he was attacked Wednesday night at his sister's residence in the 100 block of South Grove Street. He had come to the house to baby-sit for his sister's children, Ypsilanti police Sgt. Thomas Eberts said.
The man became upset with the brother of his sister's husband because he drank orange juice the first man was saving to serve to the children, police said.
"It was an argument over drinking a lot of orange juice," Eberts said.
At first, the argument was verbal. As the Detroit man was sitting at a computer desk, however, the other man, 32, allegedly hit him on the back of the head with a champagne bottle, police said.
The 32-year-old man then fled and the 39-year-old Detroit man went to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he received stitches and was released, police said.
Police continue to investigate and are searching for the 32-year-old man.
