Waffle the rooster finds a new home
Waffle, the Ypsilanti Township pet rooster involved in a very public battle between its owner and township officials, has found a new home, WXYZ reports.
Waffle the rooster has a new home in Livingston County.

AnnArbor.com reported that Judge Charles Pope ruled Aug. 8 that by keeping the rooster at her home, Kendra Wiedbusch was in violation of an ordinance that prohibits people from having farm animals on parcels of five acres or smaller in Ypsilanti Township.
After the ruling in 14-B District Court, Wiedbusch told AnnArbor.com, “We lost. We’re heartbroken. We’re devastated.”
Waffle will have his own bedroom on the seven acre property and will have "several birds to play with." Waffle will also wear a diaper while he is inside of the home, according to WXYZ.

So Waffle gets a happy ending (thank GODDESS!!!)...but will the annoying neighbors stop being annoying with their barking dogs, and threatening behavior? And let's talk AGAIN about how much money was wasted by this township attorney to take the weidbush family to court. Shame shame shame...especially with so many budget cuts looming.

ReluctantEarthMother, I agree. I too am happy that Waffle has a spacious new home(thank GOD!!!) I wouldn't blame the Weidbush's for bringing a similar lawsuit against the very same neighbors who have dogs who bark at all hours.

I find this story very sad because with all the troubles Ypsilanti Township has on their plate to deal with. They took a woman to court over a rooster. While they have crime in neighborhoods and people scared to come out of their houses, structures that are run down and home to drug addicts, people robbing local businesses but yet their energy was focused on a woman getting rid of her rooster. They should be ashamed and reevaluate their priorities. I'm so happy I moved out of the township.

Clownfish, They have been responsible/good neighbors....perhaps if you knew them personally and knew the situation except for what you read snippets of, then you would understand what these few particular neighbors were like (the threatening behavior, telling their dogs to "kill'em" about waffle...who is the true responsible neighbor? ) The weidbushes are...

The twp responded to citizen complaints and enforced the applicable ordinances . That is The System working. If Waffles owner had been a good neighbor the twp would not have had to deal with this issue.

The Weidbusch Family served the Ypsilanti community for years and deserve better than this.

Better than what? Better than having to comply with ordinances? Serving a community does not mean you get to violate ordinances.

In a time where we have one of the most polarized elections nearing, cities going broke, nation divided, and scandals erupting everywhere, this is one story that I feel is not newsworthy. If I were on the staff of annarbor.com I would be totally embarassed to even publish something like this. Please stick to real newsworthy stories before you end up going out of business like many other local newspapers that are no longer viable. This story is garbage.

Frankly, it is nice to hear a story like this one as apposed to murders & mayhem in the big city. It is a tale, and perhaps one day will be an urban legend. Just be glad it had a happy ending, diapers included!

My poor wife has been unable to order waffles at her favorite restaurant for weeks because of this. At last she can resume her regular habits.

The rooster behaves better and has a lower BMI than one third of the people in this state.

I just hope that this ridiculous story is finally ending. It's own bedroom, huh? Nice to see that a rooster has better accommodations than many children in this state.

I agree. This is hardly news; and definately not suitable for people that read the news to become educated on relevent issues.
