Images from The Color Run Ypsilanti

By AnnArbor.com Staff

It's called the happiest 5K on the planet, and The Color Run in Ypsilanti Saturday lived up to its billing.

An estimated 15,000 runners dashed through the streets of Ypsilanti, getting doused along the way with colored powder at several color zones spaced throughout the course.

AnnArbor.com photographers Courtney Sacco and Daniel Brenner captured these images.

I saw the final epic explosion of color from the television last nite. It was an over head shot from their helicopter. Wow. Could not make it to just watch. Maybe next year.

This is a fantastic event. It brings a lot of great spirit and just general revenue for the Ypsi community. However, with this event, yesterday was unbearable for the residents. My boyfriend had to be at work at 8:30a and even left earlier than he usually would to make it to the North side of Ann Arbor. Not only could he not get through a barricade to get to work, but none of the officers had no idea what to do about it. We called Ypsi dispatch seven times to try to figure out how to leave and each time we either got information on how to leave and then it ended up being untrue or we got the run around or dispatch just didn't know what to tell us. Yes, we read the AnnArbor.com article, but no where in that article did it state that we had to leave our homes before 6am if we wanted to make any part of our lives on time. Like I said, this event is a great thing for Ypsi, but better communication needs to be had all across the board. I pay taxes and patronize the community all the way around, and I should have been able to leave the perimeter yesterday if I needed to. In the end, my boyfriend was 90 minutes late for work.

Pardon my ignorance, but does this run benefit charities, or what not? It looks like loads of fun and puts Ypsi in a good spotlight.

What charity sponsors Elvis? And what is his charity? Interesting. Glad to see a wide range of organizations being sponsored.

I am amazed by the constant negativity on this site. Sheesh. If this isn't your thing, NO PROBLEM, but why must you rain on a very fun parade?! If you don't think it's worth your $50, DON'T SIGN UP. Clearly, 1,500 people thought it was a fantastic idea. The pictures are wonderful and it sure looks like fun. Something is terribly wrong with the world when people feel the need to spew negativity at EVERYTHING.

If it had been just one comment, I wouldn't have mentioned it...but in the many articles about the run, there are a ton o' Debbie downers.

If a comment in AnnArbor.com causes rain on your parade, you're taking things a bit too seriously.

Runners rolling in blue powder? Better than rolling in soot, like the 101 Dalmatians did to disguise themselves. With all that powder in the air, it's definitely not a race for contact lens wearers. Third, did any of those runners cough from all the powder in the air? If any did , then the cameras were not focused on them.

These are the best pictures of a run ever! How ecstatic this must have been. Congratulations to runners and organizers.
