Fire at Ypsilanti Township apartment complex causes $95,000 in damage
A fire inside an Ypsilanti Township apartment caused approximately $95,000 worth of damage early Tuesday, according to an Ypsilanti Township Fire Department estimate.
Ypsilanti Township firefighters responded to a structure fire at Lake Shore Apartments, located at 2551 Lake Shore Boulevard, at 2:42 a.m. Tuesday morning.
According to Capt. Dave Crescio, an electrical fire, which originated in the bedroom of a second-story apartment, was extinguished by 4:11 a.m. Approximately $60,000 in damage was done to the apartment unit with about $35,000 in damage to contents, mostly from smoke damage.
The entire three-story complex with 12 units was evacuated, but Crescio said the damages were contained to the single unit, which had a single occupant.
