Fight during drug buy escalates into shooting
An attempt to buy drugs escalated from an argument into a fight and then a shooting early Wednesday in the 600 block of Armstrong in Ypsilanti.
The 27-year-old victim was shot in the arm at about 12:30 a.m., Ypsilanti police said.
The shooting followed what the man told police was an attempt to buy drugs, which then turned into a physical fight.
That altercation resulted in gunshots fired by a man estimated to be in his mid-20s, the victim said. He was struck in the arm by one round fired from a silver-toned revolver.
The suspect left the area before police arrived on the scene.
The victim, an Ypsilanti Township resident, was hospitalized and listed in stable condition this morning. He told police he doesn't know the suspect.
Police said they continue to investigate.
