Glenn Bryant has been suspended from the Eastern Michigan University basketball team after being arraigned on assault and domestic violence charges Wednesday, according to a news release from the university.

The charges stem from an incident that happened Monday afternoon in the 1000 block of Huron River Drive, the address for the Peninsular Place apartments.

Ypsilanti police were not immediately available for comment about the nature of the incident.

Jail records indicated 22-year-old Bryant was not being held Wednesday night. He will however be automatically suspended "until the charges are dropped, dismissed or otherwise resolved," per EMU's student athlete policy.

"Eastern Michigan University Athletics takes this matter very seriously and is continuing to gather information about the incident from the police and the prosecutor's office," Interim Athletic Director Melody Reifel Werner stated in the release. "The conduct of our student-athletes is of the utmost importance to Eastern Michigan."

According to the release, Bryant joined the EMU program in the summer of 2011 as a transfer from the University of Arkansas. He sat out the 2011-12 season as a transfer. He played last season and has one year of eligibility remaining.

Bryant was second on the team in scoring with 10.6 points per game. He started 30 of 34 games and was second on the team in minutes at 27.4 per game.
