Deputies arrest suspect in robbery, assault at Speedway gas station in Ypsilanti Township
A clerk’s description helped Washtenaw County sheriff’s deputies catch a man suspected of robbing a Speedway gas station and assaulting an employee in Ypsilanti Township Tuesday.
“The victim provided a pretty good description and it was believed that this person was from the area and had been in the store before,” Washtenaw County sheriff’s Sgt. Thomas Pennington said, adding the suspect was “very well known” to police.
The suspect, a 25-year-old man from Ypsilanti Township, was located in the 1300 block of Red Leaf Avenue in Ypsilanti Township and arrested without incident about 8 p.m. Wednesday, Pennington said.
A clerk at the station at 1395 East Michigan Ave. told deputies a man came into the station about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday with a T-shirt over his face and approached the counter. He punched the clerk in the face and grabbed money out of the register before fleeing in an unknown direction, deputies said.
The suspect was held at the Washtenaw County jail pending arraignment. Police will seek robbery and possibly other charges, Pennington said.

annarbor.com--you are continuing to violate your own guidlines. Shouldn't your story say-"suspected of assaulting an employee"

Yeah... It looks like this guy either suffers from very poor impulse control, and needs psychiatric care, or just doesn't like working, and is used to jail, and is going to stay warm on the county's dime over the winter. My money is on the second possibility.

If the suspect is "very well known" to the police, lets hope the prosecuter doesn't do some meaningless plea bargain that will put him back out on the streets in 6 months.
