Portion of Ridge Road closed beginning Monday for water main improvements

By Lisa Allmendinger

Ridge Road, just south of the Geddes Road intersection, in Superior Township will be closed for about four days starting Monday for water main improvements for the South Pointe Scholars Charter Academy currently under construction.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission has posted a detour for this temporary road closure of Geddes Road to Prospect Road to Clark Road. The road closure will remain in effect until Thursday.

However, because this work is weather dependent, these dates are tentative and subject to change.

@ Lisa Allmendinger, do you know what the status is of the roundabout that was supposed to be installed at that intersection (Geddes & Ridge)? When I drive through that intersection, I can't help but think that there is not enough room for it now that the school is taking shape. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I didn't know that there ever were plans for a roundabout at that intersection, but it does sound like a good idea, even without a school going up on Ridge. When I took Geddes Road to Canton two days a week years ago, it was a pretty, scenic drive but there were long lines of traffic at that intersection in the afternoon and at Prospect, I think. So I stopped using Geddes Road to get there and started using Michigan Avenue instead.
