NASA Glenn Research Center’s ‘Journey to Tomorrow’ exhibit is coming to Eastern Michigan University for the 2013 Star Party from 12 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

NASA’s 53-foot air-conditioned trailer will offer visitors a variety of interactive space activities and the chance to see a moon rock, which was collected by Apollo 17 astronauts during one of their missions to the Taurus-Littrow Valley landing site.

A lunar landing craft simulator will allow users to test their ability to land a NASA crew on the moon and computer kiosks will allow visitors to explore space technology, ask questions and take quizzes.

Several hands-on activities will allow visitors to explore space in an interactive way.

Before leaving the trailer, which will be parked in the Oakwood South parking lot in front of the EMU Science Complex, guests can visit the ‘Picture Yourself in Space’ photo kiosk for a free souvenir.

EMU’s planetarium located inside the science complex in room 402 will host showings of ‘Stars’ and ‘The Little Star That Could’.

‘Stars’, a short film that explores the life of stars, will be shown at 6 and 9 p.m. on Friday and at 2 and 6 p.m. on Saturday. This movie is appropriate for those ages 13 and up.

For younger audiences, ‘The Little Star That Could’, a brief film about a star in search of planets of his own to protect and warm, will be shown at 1 and 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

In addition, guests are invited to stargaze through powerful telescopes on the rooftop of the Sherzer Observatory at 10 p.m. Friday. Members of the EMU Astronomy Club will be available to answer questions and point out interesting celestial objects.

I haven't played Lunar Lander since I donated my Commodore PET. "Air-conditioned trailer," you say?
