Both vehicles came to rest on the sidewalk on West Michigan Avenue at the corner of North Huron Street after the 6:10 a.m. crash, Ypsilanti Police Detective Sgt. Troy Fulton said.
One person, a passenger, was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, according to Ypsilanti firefighters. Fulton said the other people in the vehicles were not hurt.
One tree was damaged in the incident, as shown in a reader-submitted photo.
The building suffered "a little brick damage," Fulton said. "Nothing major."
The collision was caused when one driver heading east on Michigan ran the red light at Huron, striking the second vehicle, which was moving through the intersection on northbound Huron.

They forgot to mention whether or not the tree was saved or the coroner pronounced it. Just a thought since it was mentioned a tree was damaged.

I see this happen ALL the time at that intersection. Speeding and never obeying the NO TURN ON RED or just driving how ever they fee like it. Lots of crashes today in Ypsi. I just saw one on S.Hamilton and Michigan Ave. And then there was the crash earlier this morning on Grove St. We have all got to step up and become better drivers. Everyone drives like they are the only ones on the road. So many times people dart in front of me or turn when it is NOT their turn. A split second is all it takes. We need to pay more attention to those around us and our own actions!

Grammar Police Visit: I do belive the word "careening" means to flip over. The word "careering" means to race out of control.
