Friends, family and curious bystanders attended the award ceremony honoring World War II veteran Glenn Dickerson on Tuesday at Weber's Inn on Jackson Road in Ann Arbor.
The Deputy Consul General of the French Consulate Francois Pellerin traveled from Chicago to present Dickerson with the Knight of the Legion of Honor. As an engineer with a specialty in demolitions, Dickerson had a direct impact with the liberation of France in the War. Paired with receiving the bronze star, he qualifies for this award.
"I'm absolutely flabbergasted by all of this," Dickerson says.
