Women embracing traditionally male-driven college 'hookup' culture

By Kellie Woodhouse

College women can — and do — initiate hookups, too.

The New York Times reports that many college women are choosing to avoid relationships and focus on their studies and career preparation. Instead of dating, these women choose to participate in their campus' "hookup culture," preferring no-strings-attached casual sex.

Some of the 60 students interviewed at the University of Pennsylvania “said things like, ‘A relationship is like taking a four-credit class,’ or ‘I could get in a relationship, or I could finish my film,’ ” Elizabeth A. Armstrong, a sociologist at the University of Michigan, told the Times.

The Times reports that while hookups are being embraced by more and more women, an online survey found that four in 10 women were either virgins or had only one sexual partner by the time they were college seniors.

I was hoping that woman would challenge men to a higher standard in relationships, not to lower themselves to the same standards as the men around them. Oh well.

Wish I knew it was this big when I was in college.

Bout time AA throws out real news and starts embracing smut articles like the huffington post and TMZ. Oh and 4 out 10 girls were either a virgin OR "one" partner is very misleading. I bet the one partner is much higher part of the 40% then the virgin part. This must be a slow week for "higher education".

Just another facet of the population control conspiracy. By the time these women wake up they'll be too old for it to matter, and any "oopsies" along the way will either be aborted or become dependent on government. If all that fails and she decides to keep the father, the odds of him being able to raise a family on a single income are slim. Logically with productivity improvements it should be easier to get by on one income than it was in the 1950s but the system has been gamed remarkably well (currency destruction, taxes, welfare, real estate market manipulation, Wall Street manipulation and the "the stock market is the only game in town" meme, etc). So women mostly have to have careers, and fall into the "everyone must go to college" trap of tuition debt slavery, and here we are.

Don't ask for citation or proof Machine to a conspiracy person. They have gnosis into the realm of "knowing" the "truth" about the evil bougeoisie society and their plans to control the proletariat. Lenin and Stalin stopped all that "manipulation" and gave us the athiest utopia known as Russia which of course become a dictatorship over the everyone... But the "manipulation" stopped along with all your rights LOL.

Wow. We live in an elite college town with some of the best minds anywhere. I have met some incredibly smart people during my time in AA. I have never met anyone smart enough to think up and driven enough to carry out such a "conspiracy." Who are these geniuses and where do they come from? I'd like to get a job with them.

It is way, way past time to give up our milennia-old vilification of sex and sexuality--and everything connected to it-- in this country. So long as a disease does not result or an unplanned pregnancy does not occur (challenging , I admit, but the 'alternative' is worse), no harm has been done to anybody or anything. In fact, one of these decades there will *finally* by literature on how living an entire life with virtually no gratification can result in severe emotional damage (and probably resultant physical ailments). There are many people, invisible and unheard from, who suffer through a life of isolation. A culture that affirms the upside of gratuitous sex rather than seeing it as pure wicked and vile would be a much much much much better place to live in that this "prudocracy" could ever be. Prudes are very very bad for living things. Puritanism is evil.

Nothing new here; The Atlantic had a lengthy story on this almost a year ago: http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2012/09/boys-on-the-side/309062/

I came here to say the same thing. I think they're going to keep resurrecting this topic annually. Honestly it has probably been going on since the flappers.

"The New York Times reports that . . . Some of the 60 students interviewed at the University of Pennsylvania." Yet despite the rigorous research methodology at this respected institute, the NYT article reads as wish-fulfillment advocacy.

Good luck dudes! "The Times reports that while hookups are being embraced by more and more women, an online survey found that four in 10 women were either virgins or had only one sexual partner by the time they were college seniors". Based upon one account there was "no time". She "hooked" her safe stud, called him up from time to time for a night in, maybe watch a movie, have wild bleep for PG, maybe sleep over, then return home (presumeably sated). Wouldn't want to even have a coffee date out with him. I think the seventies were more liberated. Old school relatives also had a body buddy then too. Their grades dropped briefly, they graduated, married, became very successful, had kids, and their old studs are still struting around the house thinking they are "the man". Given that women regulate the future, this looks like the precursor of a subconcious U.S. "depopulation" era for human survival. We already know where the alternative male-run world solution will go when resources run low.

In the end, who really cares? To listen to the Liberal left and their doom and gloom, climate change or global warming (depending on the day and the narrative), their is no need for the human population to breed. If women can figure this out on their own without a man's input (no pun intended), then I am all for it. Elimate the man and let us have a world run by women.......:)

I respect the roughly 40% of college women who are virgins or have had only one partner. And I'm MALE.
