National Weather Service issues winter weather advisory, 4 to 7 inches of snow expected

By Heather Lockwood

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 3 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Roads are expected to become snow covered overnight Saturday into Sunday morning and road conditions may be "hazardous," with "poor visibility" through Sunday night, according to the advisory.

One to two inches of snow accumulation are expected Saturday night and three to four more inches are expected Sunday during the day. An additional inch of snow accumulation is expected Sunday night. Four to seven inches total are expected through Sunday night.

The full advisory and up-to-date forecasts can be found on AnnArbor.com's weather page.

Thanks for telling us about AnnArbor.com's weather page, Bob! It's a lot more useful than weather.com's cluttered page.

This just in from the news desk; it's snowing. Snow fall amounts could be 1-3, 2-4, 3-5, 4-6 or somewhere between 1-6

I don't see this one getting to 4", but it will be slippery out once it finally freezes.

The snow doesn't worry me. The layer of ice that's likely to be under the snow, as I listen to what is currently rain tapping on my windows, concerns me. The plane was a B-2 stealth bomber, flying in a deliberately un-stealthy manner for the crowd at the Big Chill. Very low radar and thermal profiles but audio needs a little work. Less of a problem at high altitudes though.

@dading I remember seeing the black helicopters once before way back when I was in middle school, or maybe high school. It was a weird experience! I was just walking home from taking care of my neighbors' house and pets when they were on vacation, and something like 3-5 low-flying, black helicopters in close formation went chopping by overhead. I've never forgotten it; it was such a strange occurrence!

Man, I wish we had gotten up north for the snowfall this weekend. Hopefully, the lake gets frozen over and we can enjoy ourselves over the holidays.

I tend to agree with Sallyxyz. If you think snow removal was poor on Friday (a work day) just wait till you navigate through town on Sunday! Maybe the city gets kickbacks from the local bodyshops? We could call the television Problem Solvers for answers from city hall; they always want a good news story. We can make sure they take their van up Huron street, then have them slide around town awhile before they must leap over snow piles and frozen ruts to feed the meter at a parking spot. Funny that they call it snow removal when snow is rarely removed from the streets. Why do we put up with this? I have to clear my walk according to city law; the city should be held accountable for the street snow removal in the same fashion. I think I would have voted for Bozo the Clown for mayor if his one and only campaign promise was to clear the snow from the roads promptly and fix the potholes!

Area lakes stayed frozen completely over today. Very pretty. Early and thorough ice cover. 6-11"? Priceless...

It was unusually loud - not stealthy in that regard. F-117 (likely) or B-2.

Alpha2 "Who else saw the stealth jet over Ann Arbor this afternoon?" Hmmm... stealth : the act or action of proceeding furtively, secretly, or imperceptibly just struck me as funny : )

Only slightly OT for weather and thus sky watchers: Who else saw the stealth jet over Ann Arbor this afternoon? It was very impressive...

With all this advance notice, the city needs to have those plows and salt trucks out early once the storm starts and keep them going. No excuses! Friday's inch or two of snow in the early morning resulted in horrendous driving conditions on major city streets at 7:30 a.m., an hour after the snowfall had ended. No plows were seen removing snow on the emergency routes during rush hour in the city on Friday morning. No excuse for that kind of abysmal road maintenance. Get those trucks fired up for tomorrow's storm!

I didn't know AnnArbor.com even had a weather page. I don't see a link to it from the home page. What is the best way to reach it if there is no link to it within an article?
