Winds down trees, knock out power to 4,000 in Washtenaw County
Strong winds have knocked out power for about 4,000 DTE Energy customers in Washtenaw County.
The majority of those, about 1,100, are in Superior Township in an area straddling Geddes Road, according to the DTE power outage map. Other outages were in Salem Township and to the north of Ann Arbor.
Trees and limbs had been reported down all around the county this afternoon, a dispatcher with the Washtenaw County sheriff’s department said, but no roads were reported blocked and no injuries had been reported.
The National Weather Service in White Lake Township reported wind gusts of 55 mph in Ypsilanti and 46 mph in Ann Arbor.
A wind advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. today. The weather service said southwest winds will be sustained at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
DTE has about 52,000 customers without power in southeast Michigan, down from about 62,000 earlier today, said DTE spokesman Scott Simons.

If I remember correctly, the green, purple and yellow stand for different numbers of clients without power. So the biggest green area stays on one side of Pontiac Trail? Then it looks like it's a border between two power grid sections.
