Will you get wet at the Michigan-San Diego State game?

By Cindy Heflin

Wondering whether you’ll get wet at the University of Michigan-San Diego State game Saturday?

The answer: Probably not, said Steven Freitag, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. But you’d be wise to pack a raincoat.

With any luck, fans at Saturday's game won't have to bring out the rain gear as they did at the first game of the season against Western Michigan.

The day will start off gloomy with low clouds and possibly a bit of fog, Freitag said.

“By the time we get to noon, there could be a couple of peeks of sunshine,” he said.

Still, there’s a 40 percent chance of showers Saturday. So the smart fan will be prepared. With any luck, any rain that falls will come later in the day, he said.

“It certainly won’t rain the entire game,” he said.

What about tonight, when hundreds of fans will head out to area high school football games?

It’ll be mostly cloudy, but the chance of showers is only 30 percent. So cross your fingers.

All the Walmart Wolverines (those that didn't attend Michigan) can stop by their friendly Walmart store at the corner of State and Michigan Avenue to purchase a cheap Chinese made poncho.

Yes because heaven forbid someone not attend UM and still be a fan. Just an FYI there are people in this world that attended UM and don't like football.

You could be a meteorologist too. It's just one big guess games of probabilities. I had a friend that was studying meteorology tell me that the percentage comes from a panel of meteorologist that decide, based on the conditions, if they think it is going to rain.
