Throughout the afternoon Saturday, light snow is expected in the Ann Arbor area, with the potential for "hit or miss" snow squalls that could create up to 2 inches of accumulation.

Light snow will be the norm, but "heavy snow shower(s) could drop a quick 1 to 2 inches of snow as they track through the area. This activity is convective in nature... and will be hit or miss," according to an advisory from the National Weather Service.

"Use extra caution if you must travel into or through these dangerous snow squalls. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads are likely to lead to accidents. Consider delaying travel until the squall passes your location," the Weather Service said.

Midmorning, the National Weather Service issued an earlier advisory stating that a band of "moderate to heavy" snow showers could reduce visibility in an area that included southern Washtenaw County, as well as parts of Lenawee, Wayne and Monroe counties.

The forecast high Saturday is 28 degrees. Overnight, further light snow is likely, with another inch possible and the low reaching about 19.

Sunday's forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and a high of 23 degrees. Highs in the mid-30s are expected for Monday and Tuesday.
