Road Commission plans weekend Huron River Drive road closure near WCC

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is expected to close Huron River Drive between Clark Road and Hogback Road both Saturday and Sunday to remove a culvert.

The removal of a box culvert is part of a $150,000 road improvement project under way near Washtenaw Community College and Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital. The college and the hospital have combined resources to construct a center lane, a left-turn lane and remove the pedestrian tunnel on Huron River Drive near those two campuses.

The road will be closed to all traffic and vehicles will be detoured to McAuley Drive, Elliott Drive and Emergency Drive.

This temporary road closure will remain in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday evening, but be aware that these dates are weather dependent and subject to change.

The Road Commission asks motorists to reduce speeds and drive cautiously through the work zone for the safety of the road crews and other drivers.
