Thank you President Bush for putting into place the tools and intelligence gathering techniques that our military used under the authorization of President Obama to execute UBL.

I had the tv off, working on my computer, so I literally didn't know until the last minute that President Obama was about to go live with the announcement of bin Laden's (well deserved) final end. I tuned in, just in time to hear the President say, "And may God bless America." Even so - I'm celebrating bin Laden's death like every American right now. I'm also celebrating the end of my anger over George W. Bush's betrayal of his word to Americans (when he sloughed off the search for bin Laden, saying "bin Laden doesn't matter"). Now, I can write Bush off as the failure and fraud we all endured. We have a new president, a new commander in chief who gave the order to go in and get bin Laden. Clinton couldn't do it, Bush decided to give up trying, McCain & The Alaskan Bimbo Circus wouldn't have come close - but Barack Obama got the job done - at last! Of course, we should all appreciate our citizen soldiers at times like this: the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. These people do the real job and at the risk of their lives. Congrats and all praise to them, and yes - even to the CIA and other intelligence services which have been chasing bin Laden and the other terrorists with 24/7/365 diligence and determination. Great job - thank you!

Jake C Thanks for pointing it out. There's no reason for it from the news end - and it caught us by surprise this morning. Our systems people found a quirk that pulled the tags from an unrelated image. They're fixing.

The most probable answer is: because it's late and they have the 2nd-string crew running the website and because... this is a news outlet devoted to "local events." (Local dog events included.)

Because this is just the pre-article - there will be 4 more articles written about this same article later this morning, when the rest of the "Reporters" get out of bed...

Go USA! But when over 50% of comments are being deleted, you have to wonder what exactly is going on. Also, this story is tagged "terrier-Pete-The View-dog-canine-winner-best mutt in show". What the WHAT?

@Tru2Blu76 actually you're wrong, 5 of those comments are mine. I posted "America F YEAH!" and the link to the You Tube video several times and in several different iterations... And I don't give a lick about republican or democrat!

I'll offer a possible answer as to "what's going one" based on my views of other news forums tonight: there are Republican supporting worker ants all over the forums trying to (somehow) claim that Bush gets the credit and /or that Obama deserves none of the credit. These people are "very angry" that the man (Obama) they spend so much time hating has done what none of their Republican heroes could do. So, it seems likely some of those Republican worker ants dropped in here to spew some comments which (predictably) violated "conversations guidelines" here. ;-)

I sincerely apologize to david briegel for my previous reply. I was getting the OSAMAS and OBAMAS mixed up ( coffee hasnt kicked in yet) and his response to Macabre Sunset was indeed a correct one in this case.

For once i agree with briegel. This was done on obama's watch and he deserves to share the credit. The sea burial thing was a particular subtle and clever touch, eliminating a gravesite as a future 'martyr's shrine' to inspire jihadists, as is sadly often the case in the region.

Given the description of events leading up to the final end of bin Laden, I'd guess that President Obama wasn't thinking of being apologetic to anyone as he gave the order to commence the operation against bin Laden. As it is, the facts indicate that apologies are due from former President Bush, his VP and his DoD director (Rummy Rumsfeld). It was they, you surely know, who botched the Afghan war and then flittered off to engage in another war which cost us (so far) $1.2 trillion in added debt. Like the Great Recession of '08: those Republican "leaders" did a great job of failing in their task and failing all Americans in one fell swoop (after another). The Democrats can sweep the 2012 election by simply printing up a few million bumper stickers which say: Republicans - Swoop, Swoop, Fail.
