Sheriff Jerry Clayton announced Marocco’s promotion Tuesday, making him a police services sergeant. Marocco has been with the sheriff’s office as a deputy for seven years. He’s served as a road patrol deputy, drug investigation detective, community engagement officer and had multiple special assignments.
“Mike has repeatedly distinguished himself in the manner in which he goes about his work,” Clayton said in a news release. “He leads by example and is effective at working in the community addressing crime and crime-related issues. We expect great things from Mike in his new role.”
Marocco has received numerous commendations during his time as a deputy sheriff. According to the sheriff’s office, he holds the Sheriff’s Office Medal of Valor and also received the Police Officers Association of Michigan Police Officer of the Year award in 2010.
