A tornado that ripped through Dexter on Thursday caused catastrophic damage to homes, businesses, private property and trees.
The Village Car Wash & Laundry near the intersection of Second Street and railroad tracks was completely destroyed.
The first video report, by AnnArbor.com's Nathan Bomey, shows some of the damage. The second video, by AnnArbor.com's Paula Gardner, shows damage to homes in a subdivision.

The sirens worked fine and on time in my se neighborhood. I'm tired of reading comments using every story as a way to badmouth Ann Arbor's management. This has nothing to do with the necessary job cuts to the police and fire departments.

Sadly jcj - this is the new City of Ann Arbor - not enough dispatchers, police officers, fire fighters perform the most basic jobs effectively. Let' s hope that City Hall wises up before somebody dies due to their poor decision making.

@jcj -Why did it take 20 minutes after the warning was announced for the sirens to go off in Ann Arbor? Not a good job by emergency management! Sadly jcj - this is the new City of Ann Arbor - not enough dispatchers, police officers, fire fighters perform the most basic jobs effectively. Let' s hope that City Hall wises up before somebody dies due to their poor decision making.

The first warning was for Northern Washtenaw and Southeastern Livingston Counties. The first warning for Ann Arbor came 21 minutes later. See http://kamala.cod.edu/offs/KDTX/wfus53.chunk.html
