Veterans Memorial Pool closed Tuesday due to filter issue

By Cole Bertsos

Veterans Memorial Pool, at 2150 Jackson Road in Ann Arbor, is closed Tuesday due to a mechanical failure.

Jason Nealis, the pool's facility supervisor, said the failure was discovered this morning, before the pool had opened, and was an issue with the filter. He said they knew something was wrong because the water was cloudy, prompting the pool to close for the day.

"We feel it's not safe to let people swim in the pool if we can't see the bottom of it," Nealis said.

Nealis said he expects the pool to be open as usual on Wednesday and doesn't see it happening again.

"Doesn't happen frequently and hopefully it won't happen again."
