Vehicle fire blocks lanes of westbound I-94 in Ann Arbor

By Cindy Heflin

A vehicle fire is blocking all but one lane of westbound I-94 at Jackson Avenue in Ann Arbor, a dispatcher with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said at 11:38 a.m.

State police and firefighters are on the scene, the dispatcher said. No injuries have been reported.

At one point the vehicle was totally engulfed in flames, said Sgt. Chris Pascoe of the Ypsilanti Post of the Michigan State Police.

No further information was immediately available.

Westbound 94, from US 23 to the intersection (and end) of M-14, is two lanes. A vehicle fire blocking all but one lane of westbound I-94 at Jackson Avenue is only blocking one lane - correct? The headline then becomes erroneous - the fire does not block "lanes". Don't blame a statement by a WCSD dispatcher. She/he is a dispatcher, not a news gatherer, reporter, etc. Those responsible for delivering local news should have at least a minimal knowledge of the area.
