Unlicensed driver sentenced to 7 months in jail for striking toddler with vehicle and fleeing
A man who struck a Superior Township child on a scooter with his vehicle and then fled was sentenced to jail.
Court records show Freddell Anderson, 19, received seven months in the Washtenaw County Jail on one count of felony fleeing and eluding and one count of failing to stop at an injury crash.
Circuit Judge Archie Brown credited him for two months of time already served and ordered Anderson to pay $1,746 in fines.
Anderson pleaded guilty to the charges in July, and prosecutors dropped one count of attempted resisting and obstructing police. They also agreed not to charge him as a habitual offender.
Police said Anderson was driving without a license when he backed over the 3-year-old girl in the 9000 block of MacArthur Boulevard at about 8:40 p.m. on June 13. He drove away and was arrested by Washtenaw County sheriff’s deputies on their way to the scene. The girls suffered non life-threatening injuries.

I'm confused..."he was driving without a license"...so does this mean he had a license but it was not in his possession or he had a license that was suspended or he never had been issued a license before? Not enough information to form an opinion on the status of this scofflaw...

When they take the license they need to take the car. Then they cant drive and if they do now you confiscate that car to. And they forfeit the original car.

Seems like justice these days is more about saving money or clearing off some guy's desk.

"They also agreed not to charge him as a habitual offender." Maybe the judge should have sentenced him the same way he treated that child. Lock him up and walk away. It appears Mr. Anderson never received the proper training in making life decisions. Hopefully he doesn't kill someone next time. 764274 ANDERSONFREDDELL05/17/1991MBlack257.602A3AAnn Arbor ProbProb 08/25/2012
