Have a special affection for the garden flower that blooms with the assistance of an army of ants?

If so, University of Michigan's Nichols Arboretum has partnered with South Lyon nursery Northfield Farms in its annual Peony Sale.

The sale will take place at the Arb, which hosts the largest collection of heirloom peonies in North America, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The sale takes place during Peony Fest, which includes a craft station from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and a bingo station for children. At the Peony Garden at 7 p.m. there will be a musical performance on Saturday.

Also, at 2 p.m. Sunday there will be a free preview of the Shakespeare in the Arb's Much Ado About Nothing performance.

The Arb's peony gardens are in bloom until mid-June.

Is there any kind of range of proces available? Like anywhere from $5 to $50? I'd like to get some peonies, but don't want to make the trip if they're all $40 or whatever.

I might not be remembering correctly, but I think the peonies are usually around $30-40. I've purchased plants at this event two separate years and can attest to their quality. They're all doing well in my garden despite some neglect.
