The University of Michigan solar car crossed the finish line first at the American Solar Challenge Race in Naperville, Ill., Saturday afternoon, WLS TV in Chicago reported.

The race started last Sunday in Broken Arrow, Okla. Seventeen teams from the United States, Canada, Germany and Taiwan competed.

Cars that participated in the race will be on display outside the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago Sunday, WLS reported.
